Wow...it's been a looooong time!

I realize it's been forever since I posted last! I kept telling myself I would blog as soon as I could put up a picture of my bedside table since I was tagged TWICE! So here goes...

This is actually an unusual picture...typically I would have anywhere between 1 and 5 cups or glasses on my nightstand. Many times we open the cupboard to grab a glass and realize we don't' have any...so we look in the dishwasher and they aren't in there either.... Most times they are stacked up next to my side of the bed!

Also next to my bed is a book - I always have one there. This one is "New Moon". I started reading it after not being able to put down "Twilight" but haven't been able to get in to it. Once I do, I'll retreat in to my usual cocoon until its finished in about 2 days.

I also keep my glasses next to my bed (most of the time). I can't see anything without my contacts...Mike gets a kick out of watching me lean over the night stand with my face 2 inches from it looking for my glasses after I've taken out my contacts at night. If, by some unfortunate circumstance, I put them anywhere other than my night stand, I walk around with my face planted next to every possible surface I may have left them. I know Mom and Amber are laughing right now because they realize how often I leave things in random places (clothes, shoes, keys, purses, wallets, earrings, rings, hairbrushes...you get the picture). Lucky for me, tonight when I go to bed I'll know exactly where my glasses are.

The lamp I have was a purchase when I moved into my new apartment in September 2007. I was very excited to paint my bedroom a deep brown and move in my white dressers. I loved the contrast of colors. I found this lamp at Target (my favorite store) and loved it because it was simple, glass and would match perfectly!

The alarm clock I have had since college! I love it because when the alarm goes off, the radio starts very softly and gradually gets louder. It's a nice way to wake up.

Last, but not least, my favorite thing on my night stand is the picture of me and Mike. It was taken on New Year's Eve, 2007. Looking at this picture, it's hard to believe we had only known each other for about a month...I knew I was in love with him already. I remember that day we were talking about when he would be able to move to Chicago. I think at that point we agreed we would be thrilled it if could happen by September of 2008. I'm so glad it didn't turn out to be that long...Mike was with me in Chicago just about a month after the picture was taken!

Now, I realized after my last couple of posts that I didn't include my usual "Why I Love Mike" note at the end. It wasn't intentional! So...let me tell you another little thing he does that makes me love him.

We argue. Yep, that's right. I've painted a perfect picture of happiness but we all know being in love isn't bliss all the time.... I don't necessarily like to bring up the past, but I've been in a relationship where the other person just didn't care enough to disagree with me - EVER. Maybe I got a little spoiled with that....it's kinda nice being right all the time!

I absolutely hate disagreements and fights (definitely a lover, not a fighter), but I am thankful that Mike listens to me and takes enough interest to tell me what he really thinks. Sometimes I don't want to hear it, but I have to say even after we have an argument or disagreement, I am thankful that he cares enough to have an opinion. We are both people that like to be right all the time so it can cause a few collisions every once in awhile. But luckily we love each other enough to compromise, say we love each other, and promise to learn from each other. And plus, don't they say it's good to disagree every once in awhile? Otherwise, what fun would kissing and making-up be?
