Where on earth shall I begin? I'm already over a week late in posting about your 18 month birthday. Time is flying by at warp speed and I feel as though I can see you changing right before my very eyes. It's a happy thing, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I watched your 1st birthday video tonight and craved those sweet baby days of yours.
You are having a word EXPLOSION and I'm starting to notice you put two words together - tonight it was "Dada's coat". It is so great that you can communicate better with us but your favorite word is still signing "eat" - which you do quite frequently I might add! Some favorite words: grapes, banana, more, go, down, blue, green, purple, yellow, Elmo, Cookie (Monster), cracker, nigh-nigh, hi!, bye-bye... And you're getting very good at saying "please" and "thank you" in the right context and without prompting. I could listen to your little voice all day.
You had your well-baby visit and are doing great! I was thrown for a loop with your new pediatrician though because she didn't write down all of your stats on a neat little sheet like the other ped did in the city. So from memory, you now weigh 24.9 lbs and are 32 1/2 inches long. And I don't know the measurement of your head but I remember her saying you're now in the 50% instead of 90%!
School is going great. You wave and blow me kisses bye-bye every morning and when I come to pick you up the only way you'll leave is if I tell you there's a snack in the car! You LOVE it there and it just makes my heart happy.
You saw your picture on my phone this weekend and pointed at it and said "Bubby". I'm a little worried that you don't know your name is Luke! The teachers at school call you Bubby too so I may need to make sure they slip in a "Luke" here and there.
You're sleeping really well - out like a light by 7:30 at the latest most nights. You wake up around 6:00 every morning but sing and play in your bed until 6:30. Naps are usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours in the afternoon and you love going to bed (at any time!). You will give kisses good night and practically jump out of my arms into your bed at night. Sometimes during the day you say nigh-nigh when you're tired and we will put you in bed and you just roll around with Eeyore and your blankets - there's nothing better than a comfy bed!
You are a Daddy's boy. When he was gone on a trip last week you cried at the door in the morning saying "Dada! Dada!" and were so sad when I told you he was at work. It was a "real" sad too, I could tell your heart was hurt. But the best is when I put you in your highchair and you point at the iPad and say "Dada!" knowing that we're going to FaceTime with him. You are such a sweet, sensitive boy. I love that about you.
It's hard to believe that a year and a half has already passed. I love every second with you (maybe the ones where you're throwing a fit on the floor a bit less....) and I wouldn't trade it in for anything else.
Your Dad and I love you so much, Bubby!
Love,
Mama
awww...I loved this post! I cannot wait to see him next week! Love, love his haircut! Sounds like we will have some quiet evenings...the girls are in bed at 7:30, too!
