Today is Maci's first birthday....I can hardly believe it. I remember Maddie being so much "older" on her first birthday. But maybe that's because we want to keep Maci a little baby forever!
I remember when Maci was born like it was yesterday, too. I worked in Des Moines so I could be there just as I did with Maddie. Mom, Dad, Maddie and me all went to the hospital together. I remember the car ride there...Maddie was singing up a storm! I also remember walking in and seeing Maci there with Amber - she was SO tiny. And Amber didn't look like she had just had a baby - I hope I can look that put together (both emotionally and physically) when I have babies!!
I got to stay with Amber for a week after Maci was born - just like I did with Maddie. And it was so wonderful....I love knowing that I got to spend her first days with her. Boy, did we do things different with Maci! We put her in her pack-n-play instead of holding her every moment (but we still did LOTS of that)...we gave her a paci, we didn't turn the TV down to a hush each time she was sleeping... And it seemed like Maci had been in the family forever. A perfect fit for a perfect little girl.
I went home last weekend to spend time with the M&Ms and for the first time since she has been old enough to know who is holding her, Maci came to me! She smiled and giggled and actually held out her arms to me. I am not exaggerating when I say I almost cried!
Her cute little face just begs you to kiss her and I can't resist picking her up and squeezing her tightly when she's trying to toddle away as fast as her little legs will take her!
Happy Birthday, Maci...I love you SO much!
