Checking Things Off the Wedding To Do List!

We just crossed off two BIG things from our wedding "To Do" list... meeting the in-laws and picking out wedding bands!

We had a great weekend in Chicago with the Hoyt's and Adams' families. It was a whirlwind trip but it was successful! I have to say I'm quite impressed that all 14 of us were able to navigate the city through the rain, Blues Fest crowds and weekend tourists with only one incident! Poor Dad...shut his eyes for a split second and the other 13 people in the group vanished. :-)

I'm so happy everyone had a chance to meet before the wedding! This is all of us in front of the Bean in Millennium Park.

And last night, we picked our wedding bands! We thought picking out mine would be fast and simple - all we wanted was the same exact band that we picked out for my engagement ring (it's a beautiful eternity band). Easy right?

Turns out they have discontinued it! What are the chances? I haven't given up hope yet - they are still scouring their inventory for a lone eternity band sitting out there in a store somewhere with my name on it...so I'm crossing my fingers for good news.

Now Mike's wedding band is the one I thought we'd have a hard time finding. Have I mentioned that he has an opinion on EVERYTHING? A little part of me was dreading the trip back to the jewelry store to look for his band. Mike's words this past weekend: "All I want is something that won't turn my finger green and is CHEAP". I told him you can't be TOO cheap...afterall, this will be on your finger for the rest of your life!!

But of course we waltzed in, he tried on 4 rings in 2 minutes and easily selected the ring of his dreams (and it was only $200). Now why can't any of my decisions be that easy?!

And now...another reason I love Mike: he gets me a glass of water every night before bed. He knows that I always need a glass on my nightstand...so every night he gets one for me. (Sometimes he gets annoyed that I have 2 or 3 glasses sitting there because I forget to take them to the sink in the morning but nonetheless, he'll put one more glass there!).
