Luke was having some major sleep problems when I got back - waking almost every hour. It seemed like it lasted an eternity, but I just now realized as I type this, it only lasted for about 5 days. He went back to waking only once at the beginning of this week (last night was twice but who's counting after having to wake up every hour?!). I suspect that part of his problem was due to the massive gross motor skills growth he's made over the last couple of weeks.
I mentioned in a previous post, Luke started to pull himself up by the bumpers in his crib a couple of weeks ago. Two days ago, I saw with my own eyes, my LITTLE BABY, scoot over to the side, sit up, pull himself up by the top of the bumper to his knees, and then stand up. I sprinted into his room (it was 5:50 am by the way) and there he was, looking so proud of himself!
Needless to say, his crib mattress is now safely down one level.
In other news, this kid can MOVE. He has the army crawl mastered and takes about 3 "crawling" moves before lunging for whatever he's moving towards. We can almost always get him to practice by putting a remote control, phone or camera in his view. He moves wicked fast for anything non-kid related.
He has mastered sitting up very well...and he does this cute (but a lil bit funny) thing where he sort of does this Downward Dog pose and dances around before putting his legs under himself and sitting up. It also makes me feel sad when I see him sitting up in his crib crying now (I am working on letting him cry before going in to get him - it is generally working in 10 mins or less). Somehow I think he looks so sad and lonely sitting there all by himself in the dark (see...my heart is hurting right now as I think of it....). I'm trying not to let his tactics get to me, but it is HARD sometimes.
He's eating like a champ and loooves anything you give him. He has cereal and fruit for breakfast with Dad. At night, he gets his choice of pretty much anything...squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, mixed vegetables....he is such a good eater! He loves bananas and can stay occupied for a good 20 mins gnawing on one in his highchair.
He is a total boy...loves to crawl over things, on top of things, play rough, hammer things, grunt, toot...you name it! I can't remember any of our 4 nieces doing some of the things he does so I'm convinced it's just part of raising a little boy.
I am so very behind with pictures, but here's my best at an update. I feel so far behind that I'll just do my best at trying to catch up and vow to be better about posting more often! Luke turns 6 months next week!

Stay tuned for more pictures and video soon....

Don't worry about the swing -you're letting him build up his immune system. Or that's what I tell myself when Adelia sends me pictures of Callan french kissing the swing... or anything else he can get his hands (mouth) on!
