Is balance hereditary?

Bubs has been letting go of the furniture or whatever he's holding on to lately and just standing there for a few seconds.  I read somewhere that's one of the first steps towards walking - they can balance by themselves.

I think it's crazy that he can stand there all by himself, even if it is only for a few seconds at a time.  He's 7 1/2 months old - I think he has pretty good balance!  Not to toot my own horn *cough, cough* but I think I have pretty good balance, too.  (And MIKE, I didn't say I was GRACEFUL, I said I have good balance)..  I think it was all those years of ballet....maybe my boy got his equilibrium from his mama??

Anyhow, he stood alone long enough this morning for Adelia to get a picture of him.

(seriously, his head is about as long as his legs....it's amazing he can hold that thing up!)
