10 Months

My dear Bubby,

Happy 10 month birthday!  I am amazed by you every single day.  It's true that each day bring something new and exciting (to me and your Dad, anyway!).  I think you've grown leaps and bounds this month in your skills.  It's also shown in your sleeping patterns - I guess it's normal for you to be disrupted when you're learning new tricks (I mean "developing new motor skills"). We're finally back on track but for a week or two there, you were back to sleeping like a newborn.

Here are some of my favorite things about you right now:

You're learning how to "share".  You love to bring something to us with outstretched arms and you clap and smile when we say, "Ohhhhhh, thaaaank you, Bubby!!".

You've got walking down pat now, and sometimes like to try your hand at jogging when you're really excited.  Most of the time it ends with a face-plant, but it sure is super cute to watch you try.

You LOVE giving kisses to your Dad.  I mean it's a little bit ridiculous how many times you'll kiss him (over and over and over) but then when I lean in you've suddenly forgotten who I am and turn away.  I know your Dad secretly (and not so secretly sometimes) adores this.  And to be honest, it melts my heart every time hearing him say "give Daddy kisses" in a soft voice and you leaning in to plant a big, wet, messy kiss on him.

You are devilishly insistent on plowing through the baby gates we have rigged to keep you in your baby proofed area.  We seriously can not walk away for 1 minute without you pushing your way through the gates.  We just ordered another set of shackles, errr, gates, and your baby mind is going to be blown when you see the completely enclosed cage (I say that very lovingly) you will have very soon!  Luckily, it will not be that different from Callan's house where you can't escape, so you won't feel completely bummed out by your new limits.

You have suddenly gotten shy around new people.  You turn your face in to ours so it's touching, and look out of the corner of your eye at the person.  Usually you'll end up smiling, but if you're really not sure of them, you'll stay stone faced.

You're waving bye-bye now (most of the time).  Like most babies, it's a full-on arm wave, and very cute.

You have 5 teeth and 1 more pushing through.  Between teething, being sick for the first time, and learning to walk, it sort of explains the rough times we had with your sleeping lately.  So far this week, you've been almost back to normal which is great (for you and US!).

You love to push things around on the floor. Anything that will slide, you'll push along the floor...sometimes dropping to one knee and scooting yourself along side it.  Sometimes it's your toy car, sometimes it's a block and most of the time it's the little plastic balls that are supposed to go in a toy you don't like to play with (way to go Santa).  You also use your "hand stilts" (plastic blocks that Gramma got you) one in each hand, and push them around on the floor.  I never said you weren't quirky.

My personal favorite is still the fact that you like to snuggle in after your bedtime bottle.  I will never tire of your head on my chest, your little bum in my arms and your soft snoring in my ear.

Happy birthday my sweet boy - Mama and Daddy love you like crazy.
