Because I'm missing them, I thought I'd post the pics from our trip to the zoo on Saturday. Just looking at them makes me smile - we had such a good time and the weather was perfect. It was one of those awesome Chicago days when you wonder why you'd ever want to live anywhere else. Warm sun, cooling lake breeze, the unmistakable lake scent of water and beach and summer. I'll tell you what; it doesn't get much better than that.
Luke spent much of the time running around. There wasn't a whole lot of time spent looking at the animals but that's ok. We did see lions, bears, zebras, sea lions, monkeys, apes, pelicans...he would look for a minute but was more distracted by wanting to run or touch everything around him.
We went to the "Children's Zoo" inside the zoo and it was pretty cool. There was a splash pad and even though he wasn't too sure about it at first, after a little reassurance he didn't want to leave!
There were also little spots where the kiddos could explore...walking through a tunnel made of sticks, getting inside a big concrete pipe. Luke loved this and the first thing he did was go through the tunnel and dig in the dirt. I love my boy.
| Mike was making all sorts of sounds to show Luke how his voice would sound in the pipe. |
After exploring for awhile and looking at some more animals, we went for some ice cream. Luke got his own cone and man oh man, was he in heaven!

love it... what a great memory you made :)
