We had a fabulous time on vacation and for those that have heard already....it wasn't QUITE as relaxing as some might have assumed! Luke had a blast and we had as much fun watching him have fun. A few highlights:
Luke LOVED the beach and ocean. So much that we literally had to hold on to him so he wouldn't be swept away!
The weather was mostly good (actually, most people would say it was great but because I prefer 90's and humid, it was "mostly good). The sun was warm, I got a little too much one day and Mike and I both left with a little color in our faces! And poor Bubby - he's just so fair that we didn't dare let him out of our room without SPF 50!
Luke schmoozed and flirted into the hearts of lots of people while we were there, mostly the Starbuck's ladies each morning on the daily coffee-run with Dad. And how can you not love a cute little towhead wearing those adorable little tight jammies with his dad every morning? I wish I had gotten a picture of him one morning but the best I have is cereal for breakfast afterwards...
We had to bribe Luke to leave the pool or beach every day with chocolate cupcakes that we bought at the beginning of the trip.
On two separate occasions we had security guards running after Luke (along with us) because he "turned and burned" so fast that we couldn't catch him. Here's just a couple of examples in one night.
| He insisted on eating crackers off of his arm... |
| Um, hello....please stop looking like you are 4 years old please. |
Luke has taken quite a few flights in just under 2 years and has been a trooper on all of them. Except for the flight home this time. We were "that" family with a screaming toddler who couldn't be reasoned with. It was brutal. But we made it. The expression on his face in this picture sums up the trip:
It was so nice being able to spend some time together as a family. I won't lie; it was hard keeping Luke corralled (and from drowning or hurting himself) but I'm so glad we did it.
Here's how happy Bubby was to be home....as soon as he had a bath he couldn't WAIT to get on his bike to go for a spin.
And tomorrow, Bubby has his first surgery to look forward to. He's getting tubes in both ears at 6 am tomorrow. Everyone says things will be soooo much better for him once this is done, and I really hope so. I'm a little nervous about him going under tomorrow, but I know it's so common and largely without any complications at all. My hope is that he'll be well enough to stop at McDonald's for a big breakfast afterwards. If he's not too mad at us for not letting him have a baba when he wakes up!
