Gramma and Grampa plus the Sickies

I've meant to post about this weekend for a few days now, but our sweet little man has been down and out with a nasty cold. It's the first time he's been sick, and I think we're pretty lucky he's made it almost 10 months without so much as a fever. But before he took a turn for the worse....

Gramma and Grampa came to town on Friday! I was so excited for this - they haven't seen him since Christmas when he was still just crawling. Grampa made a post on Facebook a few weeks ago when Luke took his first steps and said "now Luke will RUN to Grampa when he comes!". He wasn't far off - he's definitely trotting at times instead of walking now, and I was so happy that Mom and Dad got to see it firsthand. Luke is at the stage where he's shy-boy around new people so it took a little bit for him to warm up.

I'm not sure Gramma knew what to make of Luke...he's always moving and hates to be held and kissed and hugged! And who can blame her for wanting to smooch and snuggle him?! Unfortunately, every time she wanted to hold him, he went limp and slithered out of her arms. Little stinker. She was able to wrangle him a few times though.

And Luke loved Grampa's mustache...and playing peek-a-boo with him. Grampa knows how to play rough with him and he liked it. :-)

We went out for lunch on Saturday and Luke just loves sitting at the big people table. He ate a grilled cheese, broccoli, fruit, sweet potato fries, avocado, tomatoes and goldfish...hello hungry hippo! Saturday night I made lasagna and we just stayed in and relaxed. It was so nice. And before we knew it, it was time for Gramma and Grampa to leave on Sunday. We had a great weekend with them.

I don't have any pictures (ugh) of my own, but Gramma posted some fun ones on FB and also on her blog HERE and HERE.

Now for the sickies...poor boy started feeling yucky over the weekend. Actually, it was probably earlier than that b/c he had a fever on Thursday night after coming home from Callan's. But it got better with Tylenol and he seemed okay intermittently.

He got super clingy and by Sunday and Monday, the only thing that would make him stop crying and fussing was bouncing up and down on my birthing ball in the living room. He developed a pretty bad cough and runny nose and Dad stayed home with him on Monday. I'm pretty sure he deserves a medal or something because I've never seen our boy so needy and sick before. He had to be held all the time and wouldn't eat. After a trip to the doctor yesterday, he seems to be on the mend. Acting 100% better now but still has the darn cough and runny nose.

We're hoping this is just a little phase he's going through - maybe because he can't taste anything due to his cold - but he is being super picky about his food now. He won't even TOUCH my lasagna or pasta. Even this morning he wouldn't eat his pancakes which he normally devours. He'll eat fruit and cheese (cut up or cottage), but that's about it. We got him to eat green beans yesterday too. I'm so used to having a kid who eats anything you put in front of him that this it totally throwing me for a loop.

We'll see what happens after his cold goes away.

Sorry for a post with no pictures - but the next one will!
