Luke has loved his bathtime since we first put him in the tub. He's an every-night-bath-taker and it's part of his nighttime routine. Just this week he "graduated" from the reclining position to the other side of the baby tub - he's sitting up. He loves it...and Mama....well - I was SWEATING when we got done with bathtime. That kid has moves and it is nothing less than a challenge to keep him upright and INSIDE the tub.
Anyway, awhile ago I started researching swimming lessons for babies. I thought it would be a great thing for Mama and Luke to do together on my day off with him and it would be even better for him to learn how to swim early. He's around water a lot in the summer when we go Up North and I'd love for him to be a little fishy with his cousins.
There were a few places in the city and I thought they were relatively expensive...$185 for 6 classes...is that a lot? Or not? I'm new to this stuff. When I found one for $85 for 10 classses, it seemed like a great deal. It's at Galter LifeCenter and it looks awesome!
This place has "members" and "non members". It's sort of far from downtown so there is no reason for us to belong as members. But in order to register for Aquababies, you have to wait a full day for all members to sign up for classes first. Today was the day for non member registration.
I thought I'd be sneaky and I called yesterday around 4:30 pm. I casually asked if I could sign up for a class and the lady quickly told me that if I was not a member I was not allowed until tomorrow. And she added, "we open at 5:00 am and I suggest you come or call right away in the morning".
Well. I couldn't imagine it would be that tough. Luckily, my alarm clock (LUKE) woke me up on time at 4:45 am today. While Dad took care of him, I called at 5:03 am. Busy. Maybe I had the wrong number. Dialed again. Nope, busy. Maybe I wrote it down wrong...looked it up online again...hmmmm, right number. So I dialed, and dialed, and dialed....until 6:00 am. Busy. Every. Single. Time. This lady was not joking when she said to call right away.
Luke went down for his first "nap" (ha!) at 6:00 so Mike said he'd take over calling. He eventually got in around 6:30 and we now have an Aquababy in the house!
His first class is October 19. He'll go every Wednesday through December 14.
I am SO EXCITED!

YAY how awesome! Can't wait to see pictures! Bubs the little fishy! :)
