Luke's first Thanksgiving was a good one and we spent it with the Adams family in Michigan. Mama and Dad are getting pretty good at packing for travel and were even able to leave 30 mins ahead of schedule on Wednesday!
When we got there, we went straight to Nana and Papa's house. Luke was itching to get out of his seat...he was such a trooper on the way there and even took 2 naps.
I wish I could say that he slept well that night (or any night on our trip for that matter) but he didn't. He just does not do well on the road. We even had him sleep in cousin Stella's crib thinking that might help him feel more at "home". Not so much. I think he's starting to get to the stage where he wants his mama and dad because after a night of no sleep I finally tried bringing him into bed with us and he actually liked it. Crawled around for a minute but then put his arm out to touch me (like he used to do when he was just a little baby..*tear*) and went to sleep. Unfortunately, this meant that Dad was banished to the couch which made me feel bad, but I guess someone had to sacrifice for the greater good of the entire household's sleep!
On Thursday morning we were up early scanning the Black Friday ads. Auntie Andra was planning her attack for later that night - she left at 10 pm and got home at 6 am on Friday morning!
Luke and his cousins had some playtime and then we loaded up and headed to Aunt Mary and Tammy's house for the Thanksgiving feast. I wish I had pictures of the day, but honestly we were so busy catching up with everyone and having Luke show off his latest moves, that we didn't get any. Oh, also Luke decided he didn't want to nap the entire day so for a little bit we tried everything to get him to sleep - even taking him for a car ride. That worked for about 10 mins. Poor kid; just doesn't know how to shut down when there's so much fun going on around him. So the day was jam packed with lots of family love and stuffing our faces with an awesome Thanksgiving dinner.
Friday was a day that Mike has been looking forward to for a few weeks...he took Lily to see the Muppet's movie! She was so excited and honestly, I think Mike was just as excited as she was. They had an awesome time - I mean who wouldn't love having popcorn and a slushy at 10:00 in the morning?!
I can't wait until Luke is old enough to go to a movie!
While Mike and Lily were at the movie, Luke had some playtime with Stella. He loves other kids and it's fun to watch him just take them in. I wish I knew what he was thinking!
| He's saying to me....why don't WE have this many toys at home??? |
| Luke and Peanut - can you believe he's 6 months and she's 17 months?! |
Saturday went by so fast - the kiddos had some more playtime before we headed home.
We met Nana and Papa at Fudruckers for lunch before getting on the road. Here's Papa giving Luke his lunch. (Luke was very festive...dressed him all comfy in his Christmas jammies for the ride home)
We made it home in record time and were able to unpack and relax a little bit before bedtime. Luke did much better sleeping and has been on a STREAK since then. Sleeping. All. Night. Long. I'm not tooting our horn yet because it has only been 3 nights. His last "streak" lasted 2 nights so we're already better than that. But you never know with this kiddo....so we'll wait and see (especially with this cold now).
It was a good Thanksgiving - we got to see lots of family and had a great time catching up with everyone. It won't be long until we see them again....they are all headed to Chicago for the Adams family Christmas in just a couple of weeks!
